What's Included

Plaques ship with clear 3M double-sided mounting tape. It's strong, nearly invisible, and needs no drilling.

Mezuzah cases come with the 3M tape already applied to the back, plus a spare piece. If you ever remove your mezuzah, peel off the old tape, apply the spare, and remount.

Where the Adhesive Works Best

3M tape bonds best to smooth, clean, non-porous surfaces.

Works well on:

  • Painted or sealed wood doors and door frames
  • Metal doors (painted or bare)
  • Glass
  • Smooth tile
  • Laminate and PVC doors
  • Smooth painted walls, though very weak or old paint may peel with the tape

Not recommended:

  • Brick, stone, stucco, or rough concrete
  • Unfinished or raw wood
  • Heavily textured surfaces
  • Wallpaper
  • Freshly painted surfaces (wait at least 1–2 weeks for paint to cure)

If your surface isn't listed, test a small piece of tape in a hidden spot first.

How to Mount

  1. Clean the surface. Wipe it with rubbing alcohol to remove dust, grease, and residue. Let it dry completely.
  2. Check the temperature. Mount when the surface is room temperature, not on a freezing door or in direct hot sun.
  3. Plan your position. Mark the spot lightly with painter's tape or a pencil. The tape grabs on contact, so you won't be able to slide or adjust it once it touches.
  4. Peel and place. Remove the liner without touching the sticky side, line up the plaque, and press it on.
  5. Press firmly. Apply firm, even pressure across the whole plaque for about 30 seconds.
  6. Let it set. The bond strengthens over about 72 hours, so avoid bumping or pulling on it during that time.

Removing Your Plaque or Mezuzah

  • Warm the tape with a hair dryer for a minute to soften it.
  • Slide dental floss or fishing line behind the piece and saw gently through the tape.
  • Remove leftover residue with an adhesive remover such as Goo Gone, then clean with rubbing alcohol.
  • Never pry with a screwdriver or knife. It can crack the acrylic or damage your door.

Cleaning Your Plaque or Mezuzah

  • Dust: Wipe gently with a soft, dry microfiber cloth.
  • Fingerprints or smudges: Use a microfiber cloth slightly dampened with water.
  • Sticky spots or stubborn marks: Gently wipe the front face with an alcohol wipe, then dry right away. Avoid the cut edges.
  • Avoid: paper towels, abrasive sponges, and glass cleaners containing ammonia, such as Windex. These can scratch or cloud acrylic.

FAQ

Can I use my own Command strips or tape instead?
We recommend the 3M tape we include. It's matched to our plaques. Other adhesives may not hold as well.

Can I mount it outdoors?
Yes, on a suitable surface. Mount in mild, dry weather and let the bond set for 72 hours before it's exposed to rain or extreme cold.

My plaque fell off. What happened?
Usually the surface wasn't fully clean, it was too cold when mounted, or the surface is textured or porous. Clean the back of the plaque and the surface, apply fresh tape, and remount following the steps above.

I lost my spare mezuzah tape. Can I get another?
Any clear 3M double-sided mounting tape will work. It's available at most hardware stores and online. Cut it to fit the back of your mezuzah case.

Can I screw it in instead?
Our plaques are designed for adhesive mounting and don't come with screw holes.
